Transfer Gossip: Arsenal ready £50m move for Everton man with three exits tipped; Newcastle hijack Fulham midfielder swoop; Nott’m Forest near double deal

Arsenal are ready to move for an Everton star if they fail to land Moises Caicedo and could also allow three players to leave, Newcastle are hijacking Fulham’s move for a Championship midfielder, while Monday’s Transfer Gossip claims Nottingham Forest are closing on two eye-catching deals.

AMADOU ONANA STILL ON ARSENAL TRANSFER RADAR

Arsenal are ready to turn their attention to Everton’s Amadou Onana if they fail to strike a deal for Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners are desperate to add a new midfielder to their mix before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. And they have seen two offers fail for Brighton star Caicedo fall short.

A report on Monday suggests Arsenal will try for a third and final time to land Caicedo. And with Brighton naming their price, the Gunners will hope a fresh offer will do ther trick.

However, with Mikel Arteta’s need increasing due to an injury to Thomas Partey, Arsenal will do all they can to bring in a fresh body. And with Caicedo fearing his chance to join Arsenal will fade if a deal isn’t struck in the next two days, it seems the Gunners do have a very firm Plan B in place.

And according to transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke, Arsenal could yet switch their attentions to Everton star Onana.

The Belgian has proved an excellent addition at Everton and has been one of their few bright sparks of a difficult season.

Signing in a £33m deal from Lille just last summer, Onana has played in 18 of Everton’s 20 Premier League games.

Now O’Rourke claims a fresh move from the Gunners could be made. And it seems the Gunners are seemingly considering a move, with Everton valuing the star at £50m.

“He looks like a real top player, and also in the Belgium team as well. So I’m sure Arsenal, as well as a number of other clubs, are keeping tabs on his situation,” he told Givemesport.

“If there’s any chance he can be prised away before the window closes, I’m sure Arsenal and these other interested clubs will maybe make an offer for him.”

Arsenal ready to offload trio by transfer deadline

As well as a new midfielder, Arsenal still hope to bring in another defender in the form of Ivan Fresneda. And having already spent around £45m to sign Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior, the Gunners may need to balance the books.

To that end, the Daily Express has named three players who could find themselves leaving Arsenal before the window shuts.

In what is likely to be a hectic end to the window, Arsenal are seemingly close to offloading Cedric Soares.

The Portuguese defender is on the brink of signing for Fulham. And while the deal is not yet official, that should go through some time on Monday or Tuesday.

That will likely be on an initial loan deal with an option giving the Cottagers a chance to make the move permanent.

And two more loan exits are also reportedly on the cards.

Next up, the Express claims Brazilian winger Marquinhos could be allowed to depart in a temporary deal.

He has struggled for game-time since arriving over the summer and Arteta feels a loan will do him good. Trossard’s arrival also pushes him down their pecking order.

And finally, the paper claims the signing of a new midfielder could yet see Albert Sambi Lokonga depart on loan. The Belgian has struggled to make an impact when given a chance and Roy Keane went in on him over his lack of quality.

Now a loan move could be sanctioned but only if Arsenal sign a new midfielder and Partey’s injury is deemed not serious.

NEWCASTLE PLAN SANDER BERGE APPROACH

Newcastle are looking to hijack Fulham’s move for Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, claims a report.

The Norwegian star is one of the Blades’ star men and was surprisingly stuck around after their relegation in 2021.

Indeed, the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly among the midfielder’s suitors.

While the Blades are well on track to secure promotion back to the Premier League, they may have to do so without Berge.

And reports over the weekend claim Fulham have been given permission to open talks over his signing.

After being left out of their FA Cup draw at Wrexham on Sunday, it seems Berge is destined to depart.

But rather than move to Fulham, the Daily Mail now claims the 6ft 5in midfielder may instead sign for Newcastle.

Their boss Eddie Howe is reportedly a huge fan of the 24-year-old and is ready to make a move to lure him to Tyneside.

Confirming a possible sale is likely, Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom seemingly expects to lose the Norwegian.

The Blades are currently under a transfer embargo and need to sell before they can buy.

“He’s not here [versus Wrexham] because we have been asked not to use him. Our club is speaking to other clubs regarding him.

“It’s a club decision to protect that asset. I am not going to say I agree with it but I understand it he wanted to play today.

“One way to resolve the issues is to sell a player. Everyone knows my thoughts on it. We are ready if the worst happened and we lost Sander. We have worked hard to put this squad together in terms of the balance and how competitive we made it.

“The simple thing for me is to keep it together but we find ourselves in difficult times financially and it means there may be some tough decisions that have to be made. I have to be prepared for what happens.”

FOREST CLOSE ON IMPRESSIVE DOUBLE DEAL

Nottingham Forest are seemingly closing on an impressive double deal to round up the January window.

Having brought in an astonishing 22 players over the summer, the Tricky Trees have added another three to the mix this month.

Indeed, Brazilian duo Gustavo Scarpa and Daniolo were last week joined by Chris Wood on loan from Newcastle.

Now his Newcastle teammate Jonjo Shelvey is poised join Wood at the City Ground.

The former Liverpool man has fallen down the pecking order this season thanks to the incredible form of Bruno Guimaraes.

And a report on Sunday revealed Howe has cleared the path for the 30-year-old to leave.

Keylor Navas of PSG

Now in the final six months of his deal at St James’, Howe wants Berge to come in as Shelvey’s replacement. Per the Daily Telegraph, Shelvey will sign on a deal worth £70,000 a week.

Joining Shelvey at Nottingham Forest will be Champions League winning goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

The Costa Rica international is now in advanced talks over the move after being cleared to leave PSG.

And reports claim he will on Monday undergo a medical with Forest before signing on the dotted line.

Navas may also make an immediate debut against Leeds on Sunday with Dean Henderson currently struggling with injury.
