Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is “really keen” to leave this summer and a move to a European giant could await, while a report has listed two more senior stars who are likely to depart.

An exciting brand of football is expected to be on the menu at Tottenham next season. New manager Ange Postecoglou will ditch the back five deployed by Antonio Conte. Replacing it will be Postecoglou’s 4-3-3 that makes use of full-backs adding an extra body in midfield when in possession.

James Maddison will be tasked will pulling the strings from a playmaking perspective. However, there are a handful of players whose futures at Spurs are now under a dark cloud.

Two of them include Hugo Lloris and Ivan Perisic. The former has seen a direct replacement signed in Guglielmo Vicario. Perisic, meanwhile, has played primarily as a wing-back during the latter years of his career and that’s not a position that will be fielded by Postecoglou.

Gianluca Di Marzio recently dropped a bombshell when claiming Perisic is in line to have his contract terminated. The end goal there would see the 34-year-old return to Croatia by joining Hajduk Split as a free agent.

Fabrizio Romano since poured cold water on that theory when declaring there are “no concrete/official indications” Perisic will have the final year of his contract cancelled.

However, according to the Evening Standard, it is highly likely Perisic will depart via the more conventional sale route.

Lloris, Perisic, Hojbjerg among headline Tottenham leavers

Per the outlet, Perisic and Lloris – who are both on ‘significant contracts’ at Spurs – ‘are set to lead Tottenham’s summer clear-out’.

Both players have one year left on their respective deals, meaning Spurs will aim to recoup at least a small fee for the ageing veterans.

Another senior and established star who could make way is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Denmark international, 27, has been a regular starter in each of his three seasons since arriving from Southampton.

Hojbjerg cost an initial £15m prior to add-ons to sign and per the Standard, Tottenham will strive to make a healthy profit if severing ties.

The holding midfielder has been excellent value for money, though is courting interest from LaLiga giant Atletico Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the speculation, and while a move to Atletico is far from advanced, the reporter declared Hojbjerg is “really keen” to leave Tottenham.

“There is still no bid,” explained Romano. on his Here We Go podcast. “I wanted to clarify this, thank you for the question.

“It is true that Atletico Madrid have an interest in Hojbjerg. He is considered a strong player for them, also the style of Diego Simeone.

“From what I’m hearing, the player is really keen to try a different experience. After many years at Tottenham, to try maybe a different league and a different country and a different club.

“But at the moment there is still no official bid. For Atletico Madrid it’s really important to have a balance.

“But there are conversations, this is true, there was an approach from Atletico Madrid.

“He is one of the players they really appreciate in the position, not the only one. Let’s see what happens between clubs but it’s not something in advanced stages now, as we are speaking.”

Per the Standard, a raft of squad players including Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon, Ryan Sessegnon, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso could also leave.
