The Three Rivers

One of the major reasons why people love to visit and live in the most populated city in all of Washington State’s Benton County are all the attractions and activities linked to the surrounding Columbia River, Snake River, and Yakima River. The confluence of these three rivers, near which Kennewick is located, not only makes for a fantastic place to take in the pure and natural scenery and landscapes, but is also home to a great many water activities, sports, and events. In particular, Kennewick is famous for its annual summer attraction of hydroplane racing along the Columbia River, in which locals and visitors alike can participate or simply watch in amusement and delight. Other water-based fun in lovely Kennewick includes swimming, boating, water-skiing, and fishing.

If you want to stay out of the water but still include some great outdoor activities in the warmer months, Kennewick citizens, Kennewick tourists, and those considering buying real estate in and around Kennewick alike might prefer such outdoor recreational options as hiking, hunting, and camping. Because of Kennewick’s mild climate and, in particular, mild winters (in fact, in its beginnings, Kennewick was named “Winter Paradise” and “Winter Haven” for this reason), many choose to enjoy these activities—particularly hiking and hunting—throughout the year.

Sports and Shopping

Kennewick makes a great city to visit and a great home for people who enjoy sports and shopping as a favorite pastime. Golf is one highly favored activity in Kennewick, and there are several great courses for you to choose from. If you prefer a role as spectator and fan rather than participant, the city’s popular Toyota Center hosts a wide variety of sports and sporting events and activities throughout the year to please sports lovers of all kinds. More specifically, Kennewick has hosted the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League as well as the National Indoor Football League champions—The Tri-Cities Fever.

If you prefer shopping to sports, you should know that Kennewick is considered a shopper’s paradise in the Tri Cities area as well as the whole of Benton County. In fact, people from all over Washington State venture out to shop in the city’s wide variety of shops, stores, and commercial shopping centers. The Columbia Center Mall, in particular, is a local, community, and state favorite.  In fact, this mall, which is southeastern Washington’s largest mall, draws visitors from as far as Oregon on a regular basis. Its anchor stores include JCPenny, Macy’s, Macy’s Men & Children, Sears, Barnes & Noble, and Regal Cinemas.
