Harry Kane name-checked as Karim Benzema exit speculation emerges

Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Edinson Cavani have all been named as potential candidates to replace Karim Benzema.

Spanish paper AS suggests Karim Benzema’s future at Real Madrid is in doubt, despite the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s £88million move to Juventus apparently leaves France forward Benzema “very exposed”.

The report claims Benzema was the perfect foil for Ronaldo and the exit of the Portugal star leaves the onus very much on Benzema filling the 44-goal void left by him.

And with just 12 goals in 47 games last term – his second lowest return since he arrived at the Bernabeu in 2009 – Real know that Benzema, 30, is not the man for the job.

AS suggest if Kane, Lewandowski or Cavani was to arrive at Real then Benzema would be booted to the bench and therefore believe Florentino Perez could get rid of him this summer.

Benzema could be offered an escape route by Napoli, where he would be reunited with former Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, but the report claims Benzema, who has a contract until 2021, has no intentions of leaving the European champions.

Tottenham striker Kane penned a new deal with Spurs in June that will reportedly see him double his current pay packet.

Kane signed a six-year deal with the club in December 2016, making him the club’s highest earner on £100,000 a week.

But the England striker, who won the Golden Boot at the World Cup doubled those wages with another six-year deal, tying him to Tottenham until 2024.

In  January the Sunday Times ran a story claiming Spurs would have a job on their hands from stopping Kane move to Real this summer. But Don Balon and Diario Gol since claimed Kane would snub a summer move to Real Madrid having become tired of their lack of movement.
