Premier League target Federico Chiesa in action for Italy

Manchester United are ready to hijack Liverpool and Newcastle’s efforts to sign a brilliant Juventus and Italy forward, while Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Everton are closing in on a new winger with a medical booked in ahead of a loan switch.

TEN HAG JOINS HUNT FOR JUVE ATTACKER

Manchester United have reportedly joined Liverpool and Newcastle United in the race to sign outstanding Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa this summer.

The Red Devils are close to officially announcing the capture of Inter Milan stopper Andre Onana, while a move for Atalanta frontman Rasmus Hojlund remains a major priority for Erik ten Hag.

But now a fresh report from Corriere dello Sport claims that United are also pursuing a potential deal for Chiesa.

The report states that United are now in a three-way race with Liverpool and Newcastle for the Italy international, who is eyeing a fresh challenge away from the Bianconeri.

The Euro 2020 winner had a mixed 2022/23 season after a long-term injury, and his relationship with Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri is said to have soured.

The Turin giants are currently looking to raise at least €100million (£87m) from outgoings and are willing to allow Chiesa to leave for €50m (£43m) this summer.

The 25-year-old is regarded as one of the best forwards in Italian football and is hugely versatile, with the ability to play on either wing or as a second striker.

Injury-plagued Chiesa still a class act

However, he is not the out-and-out No.9 Teh Hag wants and United already have a number of flexible forward players to pick from.

A fully fit Chiesa is, though, a class act who would arguably walk into the current United side – most probably on the right wing in place of under-pressure duo Antony or Jadon Sancho.

After his injury issues, the Juve star did end last season on a bright note by notching four goal contributions in his final five outings, but his fitness has been a concern for some period of time.

Indeed, it’s reported that if United do make an actual offer for Chiesa then it’s more likely to be in the region of £30m – given those injury concerns.
